Description
In an effort to make construction in the Hampton Roads region more efficient andless costly, Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) joined withthe 16 municipalities and HRSD in 1998 to develop Regional ConstructionStandards. Construction Standards are intended to simplify the design andconstruction process for “typical” right-of-way improvements. The engineering firmof McKim & Creed was selected to blend the best construction documents theregion had to offer into one concise set of documents that each municipality couldadopt. HRPDC developed, printed, and distributed two editions of the RegionalConstruction Standards, which include complete front-end documents, 29technical specifications and 64 standard details. Each municipality has committedto using the standards on a pilot project to test the specifications. The third edition,currently under development, will add several more technical specification sectionsand details. Includes tables, figures.
