Description
This paper identifies three different approaches for interfacing geographic information systems (GIS) and network modeling packages. These approaches involve: using GIS software to store network asset data and display model results, the network modeling program would be used solely as a hydraulic solver; exporting the network asset data from a GIS database and developing a comprehensive GIS interface and model database as part of the network analysis package to store and display model results; developing an independent intermediate package as the means to interface GIS with a modeling package, then using the interface package to also store and display the model results.
