The integrated risk information system (IRIS) is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency database that contains the agency’s consensus positions on the potential human health effects of approximately 500 substances. It was created in 1986 for use by agency staff and was made available to the public in 1988. When consensus is reached within the agency regarding the health risk of a substance, that information is made available in IRIS. Includes 6 references, table.
