This article discusses the Environments For Living® Certified Green Program that combines indoorenvironmental quality, water conservation, and appliance efficiencywith the assurance of a limited guarantee on energy use. The newbenefit is offered by Masco Home Services through its EnvironmentsFor Living Program, a national turnkey program designed to assistbuilders in constructing and marketing green homes. The Certified GreenProgram encompasses many of the features of such standards as the U.S. GreenBuilding Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and theInternational Code Council/National Association of Home Builders GreenBuilding Standard but goes beyond them as a commercially viable programthat has generated participation by production home builders.
